“China, Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos and Ted Turner Buy Up Massive Amounts of American Farm Land”. The Chinks just bought our largest pig farm/pork producer. So now instead of buying pork from us, they raise it here and ship it to China. Saves a lot of money and avoids the tariffs. They’re buying up regular farm land as well. You know all that produce is going to be shipped back to China instead of feeding Americans, so this sounds like a bad move on our part.
As for Gates, Bezos and Turner, they’re probably just expanding their empires, but chances are good they know something the rest of us aren’t being clued in on. Like maybe a sudden massive increase in our population, resulting in soaring food prices? Could be, and if that’s happening here it’s going to happen in the rest of the world too.
I like to think ahead. It’s a habit I learned from youth, playing chess. I was never that great a chess player but the value of planning as far ahead as possible stuck with me, so when I see news like the above, I start wondering what it means for the future.
I’d like to think that Earth’s human population is destined to decline soon but this big focus on locking down massive corporate farm areas by a few entities dissuades me from that view. The push to maximize populations as a form of military superiority clearly isn’t over yet.
Not that I give a damn, I don’t. My concern is purely selfish, inflation is a bad thing for those who live mostly on retirement savings.
